Master the underground racing circuits of Japan
ASUKA: The Ascent is a racing game. It is a stylish and emotional street racing game set in the heart of Japan’s iconic mountain roads. You follow Asuka Sakai, a young college student from a farming village who leads a double life: studying architecture by day and street racing by night.
In ASUKA: The Ascent, inspired by her late father’s legendary racing career, Asuka throws herself into the underground world of high-speed duels and hidden rivalries. The story is heavily manga-inspired, with colorful characters, surprising betrayals, and a deep sense of personal ambition driving everything forward.
Navigate the shadowy rivalries.
ASUKA: The Ascent offers an impressive selection of over 50 customizable JDM-inspired cars and up to 100 variations. You can tune everything from your engine to your camshaft timings and tire pressure, giving players a huge amount of freedom to perfect their racing machine. The tuning aspect is deep, yet accessible enough for newcomers. Driving physics feel weighty and rewarding, replicating the clunky but lovable nature of older Japanese sports cars.
All of the races take place across stylized versions of Japan’s countryside, complete with shifting weather and dynamic lighting that impact how your car handles. Special locations like frozen lakes and gymkhana stadiums offer thrilling, high-risk challenges. Each course varies in length, keeping races fresh whether you’re sprinting in a two-km dash or grinding it out over a 10 km endurance run.
Outside of races, you spend time living Asuka’s life, ordering parts online, visiting local internet cafés, and interacting with a huge roster of over 200 rivals. Every rival has their own style, backstory, and strategy, making encounters feel personal rather than just another checkpoint. However, physics may feel heavy for pure arcade racing fans, and tuning complexity could overwhelm casual players.
Challenge over 200 racers
In ASUKA The Ascent, you experience a blend of precise racing mechanics, deep car customization, and a narrative-driven journey through Japan’s underground racing culture. Every race demands technical mastery and strategic tuning. Dynamic weather and diverse terrain create constant challenges, while encounters with over 200 rivals shape your rise. The stylized manga aesthetic and personal storytelling immerse you fully, offering a racing experience that combines emotional depth with competitive intensity.
